This Covid-19 crisis is a tornado of change that was definitely not on the books in everyday living a few months ago. Very quickly, there is momentous uncertainty. The life we were living is disintegrating fast. The life we are living is in question. Our basic needs for living and caring are in jeopardy. We cannot control those who insist on self-indulging. This is an acute, rapid and global life-and-death disaster.
It seems like our choices are being dictated. We are being forced to draw in or die. Emotions are welling from all directions and with increasing force. How do we react? What do we do in this time of stress? Crawl under the covers and hide? Withdraw. Resort to substances – drugs, alcohol and/or food? Flight. Worry, fret and get angry? Fight. These are definitely catabolic uses of our energy.
What then can we do to get creative? Join together online? Call friends? Get grateful. This is the perfect moment to put your foot on the accelerator towards the life you really want. This is the opportunity of the moment. We are called to “stay home”. We are admonished if we don’t. How, then, do we accustom ourselves to this new existence and live it with style, even though are livelihoods are at risk, our financial situations are in crisis and we are separated from our loved ones. Now, you have the time to evaluate your values, your pastimes, your livelihood. Try to relax and prepare to make this challenge work for you.
This may sound ‘Pollyanna’ to some. This is an appeal to those who are ready to envision the ‘new way’ and to start living it now. This virus is an equalizer. There are no differences from one human to another, no matter what descriptors make up their profile – age, race, country, culture, gender, and more. Let’s reach out, those who will, those who are ready to STAY HOME and to start downloading the messages that we will patchwork together to form our new existence…as a plane. The words that I offer for this project are ‘unity’ and ‘harmony’. Let’s get together and let’s get along.
I am a Boomer. I have had to wrestle with the fact that I am ‘the vulnerable set’. That is not my view of myself. I had to realize that if the spike occurs, I might be the one turned away from the hospital. With that as a start, what platform can I jump on to be part of the Force of the 1940’s and 50’s primed to make an impact on ‘saving this world and the next’.
Emotions are welling from all directions and with increasing force.
